Our Story
The Inspiration
On Broad is a vision brought to life that started with a simple anniversary trip to the Finger Lakes in New York. While staying at a romantic bed and breakfast, my husband and I had breakfast in a charming dining room full of stunning décor. It was filled with whimsical but practical pieces from compotes and pitchers to (un)common tableware. We were mesmerized by the uniqueness.
Upon learning the dining room accessories were MacKenzie-Childs creations, we also learned the flagship store was just a few miles away! We went there and discovered a beautiful 65-acre farm. On the farm is an enormous barn (pictured above) and the original farmhouse of Victoria and Richard Mackenzie-Childs which showcases their stunning designs from over the years. Inside the enormous barn were many artists hard at work constructing the furniture and then painting it by hand. They were painting the porcelain pieces and many other (smaller) items too. We toured the property and learned so much about the MacKenzie-Childs brand and its rich history. The feeling the brand represents is truly inspiring and it gave us an everlasting memory.
But something was missing...
Bringing it Home
Following our Finger Lakes trip I felt like I had to do more. In the months following, I quickly realized there were many people like myself and my husband who haven’t yet experienced the wonder of MacKenzie-Childs. Having worked with artists since I was a young teen and later as a self-made professional photographer for nearly two decades, I wanted to bring the MacKenzie-Childs whimsy to Lititz, and also include items from other artists and artisans as well. It has always been a dream of mine to work hands-on with the art community and I am embracing the opportunity to collaborate with artists I admire and respect so much. Among our beautiful collection of functional art pieces made by MacKenzie-Childs, our boutique features artwork, décor, and elegant handmade accessories for her.
In addition to providing great service, I want you to have memories like mine from that anniversary trip. I want each person that walks into our boutique and gallery to feel alive and engage with the products.
